Higgins - Meet Our Doctors

Dr. Roberts is the Owner-Practioner of Higgins Animal Clinic, Wheeling Animal Hospital and Arlington-Golf Animal Hospital. He has been a licensed Veterinarian for over 40 years.

Dr. Roberts has a vast amount of experience with all breeds of dogs, cats and exotics which include pot-bellied pigs, ferrets, rabbits, hamsters, gerbils and most reptiles.

Dr. Roberts' love of veterinary medicine began at the age of 15 when he was hired by Dr. Higgins in Chicago to work as a veterinary assistant.  After graduating from Lane Technical high school, he attended the University of Illinois and then the University of Veracruz and received his degree in veterinary medicine in 1981.

Dr. Roberts and his wife, Joan, have two daughters, Lindsay and Alyssa. They also have 5 grandchildren and a large menagerie of pets at home. In his free time, Dr. Roberts loves spending time with his family, playing basketball and enjoys a wide range of musical artists.

Dr. Shana Damiana grew up in the suburbs of Chicago and spent the summers in Idaho at her father’s ranch. She attended the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign for undergrad earning her degree in Animal Science in 2004. She then continued on to veterinary school earning her degree in Veterinary Medicine from the University of Illinois in 2008. After graduation she moved to Florida practicing both in a mixed animal practice and a small animal practice before moving back to Chicago.

She is very happy to be an integral part of the Higgins family since 2012 and enjoys making the time we spend with our pets as full and healthy as possible.
In her free time she enjoys spending time with her son and husband, horseback riding, being outdoors and traveling around the world.
