Wellness Examinations
The goal of a pet wellness program is to prevent or minimize disease or injury. Pets who receive regular examinations live healthier, longer lives at a much more predictable and manageable cost for owners.
The American Veterinary Association recommends that pets see their veterinarian for wellness exams every six months. This allows the veterinarian to monitor your pet's general health and to diagnose and treat any health problems before they become serious health issues, which may be potentially life-threatening and/or require long, difficult treatment.
A pet wellness program includes an individualized disease prevention program. At your visit, we will complete a risk assessment for your pet. Based on the answers to questions about your pet's behavior, lifestyle and other factors, we will determine a course of action, including appropriate vaccination protocol, to keep your pet healthy, happy, and enjoying life.
Grooming
We offer medicated baths for pets with allergies, itchy skin, and skin infections. We also offer flea and tick baths.
Our grooming staff is available six days a week to provide regular and soothing baths to cats and dogs.
We can also provide baths and grooming with sedation. All sedation baths/grooms are closely monitored by the veterinary staff.
Ultrasound and Echocardiography
In house state-of-the-art ultrasound and echocardiogram equipment.
Complete laboratory testing
Each hospital maintains an on-site laboratory which allows us to analyze and diagnose your pet's health care needs quickly and efficiently. We perform many lab procedures which include blood work, urinalysis, fecal analysis, etc.
Complete Pharmacy
Fully stocked in-house pharmacy.
Radiography
Advanced digital radiography equipment ensures your pet has minimal exposure to radiation, while producing quality films.
Boarding at Wheeling Animal Hospital and Pet Resort.
Dog, cat and exotics boarding is handled through the Wheeling Pet Resort. (847) 520-7387 press 2.
Pet Resort boarding for dogs includes a stay in a small or medium villa or the master suite. Your pet will receive three out-times per day in one of our four fully fenced exercise yards(staff present at all times), a cozy cot, Science Diet food(or bring your own), a complementary wipe-down or a discounted bath, if desired. Trail hikes along our fully fenced outdoor walking path, are also available for an additional charge.

Surgery
We perform surgery every weekday using the safest anesthesia available. Post-surgery, one of our experienced veterinary assistants, will sit with your pet during the recovery period to monitor your pet's vital signs.
